Our History

Our business began in 1983 as Doors & Drawers of Fort Wayne, a local company specializing in refacing.    Countertops and hardware were offered in connection with refacing projects.  In 2001 the business was purchased by Bob Ellis.  With the introduction of cheap cabinets from Lowe's, Home Depot, and Menard's, the refacing market began to shrink and we began to explore other product offerings.

Refacing requires an in-depth knowledge of construction techniques both old and new to handle such things as converting old lazy susans to the new independent-rotating design, or hinge selection for refacing frameless cabinets, etc.  We built on this knowledge to introduce new stock cabinets in 2003.  At the same time, countertops became a separate business segment and Doors & Drawers became a certified retailer for Corian® and Zodiac®.

In 2006 we began installing kitchens for new home builders.  In 2007, we were asked to bid on a large apartment complex remodel.  We successfully installed 48 units and a clubhouse kitchen on time and within budget.  The success of this project led us to restructure the business to capture more of the commercial market.  In 2008, Cheryl Ellis opened Arbor Glen Cabinet Company, a name that better suits the broadened scope of products and services we now offer.

Since then we have completed projects for IPFW Phase III Student Housing and Indiana Tech Student Housing.  We are currently working on projects for Whispering Oaks Senior Housing, American Heartland Homes Hammond, and Huntington Central Apartments.

If you would like to deal with a company that has a history of skill and competence, we are happy to serve you.  Call us at 800-466-2596 or 260-442-3697.  We would be pleased to discuss your project.
